My Obsessions Pt.6 - K-pop (Girl Group Edition).

  Espero que todos se encuentren muy bien! Saben, me di cuenta que ha pasado casi mes y medio desde que hice un post musical por lo que se me hizo pertinente para la obsesión de hoy hablaria de un estilo de música que algunos de ustedes ya saben que me encanta, el k-pop. Como han podido leer en el título este post esta enfocado en los grupos femeninos, ahora no se dejen engañar por lo lindo del banner que aquí también hay actitud y sexyness. He compilado una lista de aquellas canciones, y grupos, que actualmente no puedo sacar de mi cabeza. Comencemos.

  I hope you are all doing great! You know, I realized that it has been almost a month and a half since I did a music related post so I find quite appealing that for today´s obsession I´ll keep the theme of presenting one of the music genre that has captured my heart, k-pop. As you might have guessed from the title is all about girl groups now don´t get caught by the cuteness of the banner (which I can only describe as me in a sugar rush) most of these groups are full of attiud and sexyness. I´ve made a list of those songs, and groups, that currently won´t leave that wierd place called my head LOL. Let´s begin.

Ailee, si bien no es un grupo les aseguro que vale todo lo que uno, esta chica poseedora de una fantástica voz se ha coronado como una de las nuevas mejores voces de corea llegando a desafiar los estándares de belleza (si bien acá podríamos considerarla una hermosa joven digamos que en su madre tierra seria una chica con algunas libras demás). Esta canción fue la primera que escuche de ella y desde entonces me he vuelto un ávido fan de todo lo que saca al mercado, pero este tema en particular lleno de energía y con alguna inspiración de Beyonce (artista que la misma Ailee ha dicho que admira enormemente) es un must en mi playlist.

Ailee, while she is not a girl group let me assure you she totally makes up for one, this girl who posesses a fantastic voice has crowned herself as one of korea´s top female vocalist even defying beauty standards (we might think she is a gorgeous woman but in her mother land some might consider her a bit on the bigger side). This was the first song I ever heard from her and since I´ve been a die hard fan of everything she puts out there but this particular theme filled with energy and with a little Beyonce inspiration (which Ailee has said she admires greatly) is a must on my playlist.

Mi primer contacto con Girls Day fue a través de su ultimo single del 2013 "Female President" el cual llamó mucho la atención por ser bastante sexy en su concepto. Aunque este año sacaron un single nuevo hace poco fue durante mis investigaciones de sus producciones pasadas que encontré el vídeo de Expect (o Expectation) y desde entonces no sale de mi cabeza. Una mezcla entre lindas y sexys convierte a Girls Day en uno de los grupos mas reconocidos actualmente en la escena del k-pop.

My first contact with Girls Day was throught their last 2013 single "Female President" which held a lot of attention for its incredible sexy concept. Though this year they also released a brand new song it was during my researches that I came upon the video of thei single Expect (or Expectation) and I was totally sold. A mix between cute and sexy turn Girls Day in one of the most recognized groups in the k-pop scene.

Puede decirse con seguridad que Spica es el grupo femenino que posee las mejores vocales en la industria. Si bien no poseen el nivel de popularidad que el resto en esta lista han adquirido respeto de sus pares gracias a la calidad de sus voces y a su inquebrantable espíritu por convertirse en uno de los mejores grupos de k-pop. Tonight es una de esas canciones que sencillamente te hace sentir bien y de alguna manera te transporta a un momento, en mi caso al final de un maravilloso verano con esa sensación de nostalgia y libertad, de sentirte infinito. Ademas, también ayuda que su madrina sea la reina del k-pop Lee Hyori.

It can be said with property that Spica is the female top vocal group in the industry. They might not be as popular as the rest of the groups in this list but they have truly aqcuire respect from her peers for the sheer quality of their voices and the unending fighting spirit to become one of the best acts in k-pop. Tonight is one of those song that simply makes you feel good and in some way takes you somewhere, for mi its a wonderful summer´s end filled with nostalgia and that sensation of freedom, of being infinite. Besides, it also very helpful to have Lee Hyori, the queen of k-pop, as your godmother.

De vez en cuando llega un grupo que son básicamente la definición de "cool", 2NE1 se lleva ese titulo y con creces. Su fanclub se llama Blackjacks y me considero uno, es actualmente mi grupo favorito y no exagero cuando digo que todas sus canciones me encantan. Con personalidad y swag para regalar este cuarteto de chicas irrumpieron en la escena k-pop para hacer grandes cosas siendo I´m the Best su canción representativa y vaya que les cae como anillo al dedo. Estas chicas no solo se caracterizan por su música pero su sentido de la moda les ha valido ser inspiración de diseñadores como Jeremy Scott (en el caso de la lider CL) y de ser imagen de marcas como Adidas.

Once in a while a group arrives whose sole presence is the definition of "cool" and 2NE1 totally owns that title. Their fanclub is called Blackjacks (which in korea has been a tradition since quite some years ago to name their fandoms) and I considered my self one, this is actually my favorite group and I´m not being over the top by stating I love every single song of theirs. Filled with personality and swag to spend this quartet made their way in the k-pop scene to be big being their song I´m the Best one of their iconic themes and it suits them right. These girls have not only made an impact music wise but their fashion sense has turned them into muses for designers like Jeremy Scott (in the case of the leader CL) and to be the image of popular brands like Adidas.

SNSD o Girls Generation (también conocidas afectivamente por sus fans como las GG) son el grupo femenino icono de corea a nivel internacional. Con una carrera que despego desde su hit single "Gee" estas chicas solo han podido ser rivalizadas por el grupo 2NE1, con nueve miembros que poseen características únicas en personalidad y look no hay fan de k-pop que no sepa quienes son. Su último single coreano (ya que también promocionan en Japón al igual que otros grupos) sorprendió a todos al ser una canción con una interesante cantidad de cambios en su melodía, así mismo la forma en que se presentaron las chicas fue refrescante y nada parecido a algo que hubieren hecho anteriormente.

SNSD or Girls Generation (also affectively known to their fans as GG) are the female icon group of korea. With a career that sore high after their hit single "Gee" this girls are only rivalized by the group 2NE1, with nine members each having their own distinct charm there is no k-pop fan who doesn´t know them. Their last korean singles (since as other groups they also promote in Japan) surprised everyone for it was a departure from everything they had done before music and image wise, earning high praise for their music video as well.

*I hope you all have a great time listening to the songs (and of course I´ll do the most needed boy group edition) and for those of you who might not like k-pop for whatever reason and are shouting to the screen Give it up already! I promised that I will eventually do a more familiar music type of post.
