MBFWP15: ATLAPA Series - Day 2

¡Hola a todos! Hoy les traigo la entrada con el segundo día de pasarelas del MBFWP15. En esta ocasión tuvimos la oportunidad de ver propuestas de favoritos nacionales como Verónica Angel, quien tan solo el año pasado hizo su debut con una colección que sin duda causo impacto. Tambien pudimos ver el trabajo de una veterana en nuestro medio como lo es Hélène Breebaart y Fabiola Bracho cuyo trabajo en joyería es muy admirado; en el frente de nuevos creadores la marca Marciscano hizo su debut oficial con una interesante colección mientras que la diseñadora Pilar Sainz, otra favorita del público, presentó una colección llena de la elegancia que la caracteriza.

Como invitados los diseñadores Paolo Errico, Carmelá Lugo y Jorge Duque Velez nos mostraron sus distintivos puntos de vista cada uno tan diferente como fantástico.

Hello everyone! Today I´m back with my second entry of the runways from MBFWP15 at ATLAPA. In this occasion we had the chance to see collections from national favourites like Veronica Angel, who just last year made her official debut with a line that undoubtly struck a chord. We also had the opportunity to see the work of veterans like Hélène Breebaart and Fabiola Bracho who has been renowned for her work with jewelry. In the new creators front fresh off the oven brand Marciscano made its official debut with a very interesting collection while designer Pilar Sainz, a crowd favorite, presented a collection with her characteritic timeless elegance.

As guest designers we had Paolo Errico, Carmelá Lugo and Jorge Duque Velez all of who had some very unique points of view each as different as fantastic.

 VERONICA ANGEL

Como mencioné anteriormente esta diseñadora se ha convertido en una favorita del publico gracias a sus diseños siempre interesantes, coloridos y femeninos. Su más reciente colección se tituló "Living Rythms" y nos presentó una propuesta fresca con combinaciones de colores cítricos así como tonos contrastantes como rosado, morado y azul. En su mayoría la colección tenia piezas muy usables con un estampado variado que tenia como motivo recurrente las conchas de mar pero utilizadas para crear formas y sensaciones de movimiento. En lo personal me hubiera gustado ver más utilización de elementos con movimiento tal y como hizo casi al final con los trajes que tenían cuentas, si bien lo conceptual no esta nada mal de vez en cuando ser un poco literales tampoco hace daño un hecho demostrado con esos últimos vestidos. Creo que la diseñadora Verónica Angel tiene un camino muy brillante por delante y no puedo esperar a ver como evoluciona su marca.

As I said earlier this designer has become a crowd pleaser thanks to her interesting, colorful and femenine designs. Her recent collection was titled "Living Rythms" in which she presented a line that was fresh with a citric tones that were contrasted by hues like metallic pink, purple and blue. For the most part it was a collection with a nice assortment of wearable pieces that used as a print a recurring sea shell motif that was utilizes to creat other shapes and moving sensations. On a personal note I would´ve loved it if she used actual moving elements like the hanging beads on her final dresses, whereas a conceptual design is definetely nothing wrong sometimes going for a literal take can actually do a lot of good as those dresses demonstrate. I think desginer Verónica Angel has a shiny road ahead and I can´t wait to see how her brand evolves.

PAOLO ERRICO

Uno de los diseñadores invitados fue el italiano Paolo Errico quien presentó quizás la colección más deportiva que jamas se había visto en el MBFWP. Esto me pareció un excelente contraste ya que debido a que nuestra industria realmente esta algo lenta en materia industrial, y comercial, los diseñadores locales suelen trabajar más a medida con sus clientes lo que significa una gran....gran cantidad de trajes de cocktail y de noche. Es por eso que esta colección me parece un refrescante cambio pues sin duda le habla a la vida cotidiana con un rango excelente de piezas que yo llamo "amigables a la vida". La línea estaba inspirada en la moda actual de la calle y los juegos de vídeo lo cual creo una excelente paleta de colores en tonos rosados, morado claro, muchos blancos y algunas piezas con acentos en rojo, todo esto atado por el golpe ácido en los tonos verdes.

One of the invited guests was italian designer Paolo Errico who brought perhaps the most sporty collection ever presented at MBFWP. Which I find it to be a very nice contrast; because our industry is really not developed in an industrial way local talents tend to work on a more one on one basis when it comes to clients which results in a lot....I mean a lot of cocktail attire. So it is a nice change of pace actually watching a collection that speaks to daily life with great layering and pieces that are what I call "life friendly". The collection was inspired by street life and video games which in turn translated intro a great color way with pinks, light purples, lots of whites and several pieces with red accents, all of this topped with some very welcomed acid punch.

HÉLÈNE BREEBAART

Una de las diseñadoras locales con mayor trayectoria y también una de las más queridas y respetadas. La señora Hélène no solo irradia luz sino que transmite esa misma alegría por la vida en sus diseños los cuales siempre guardan algún detalle curioso y a veces juguetón. Siempre se puede ver en sus colecciones una marcada inspiración en la naturaleza que se transmite en detalles creados a mano por dedicados artesanos quienes se aseguran de brindar ese elemento de amor por el arte en cada una de las piezas. Mis piezas favoritas son el traje con forma de piña el cual demuestra que aparte de dominar excelentemente la técnica también se divierte con el diseño y el traje verde largo el cual hace alarde a otra característica de su marca que son los motivos pintados a mano.

One of the local designers with perhaps the longest career in fashion which also happens to be quite loved and respected. Hélène pours her light and love of life intro her designs always making them have a curious elements that can algo be very playful. Her collections are always marked by a poignant inspiration in nature which is converted in beautiful handmade details by dedicated artisans who make sure each piece is filled with the love for their craft. My favorite pieces are the pineapple shaped dress...cause I mean is the best of two worlds technique and fun design, there´s also the long green dress which highlights another must in her brand and that is hand painted motifs.

PILAR SAINZ

Si hay una diseñadora que sabe lo que quiere es Pilar Sainz, sus diseños son inconfundibles, elegantes, atemporales y muy femeninos. En ellos siempre se puede encontrar ese ADN español que les da un toque altivo y casi de realeza. La colección titulada "Marbella" era increíblemente variada y el rango de trajes realmente fue extenso, quizás ocasionando que en algún punto se nublara un poco la cohesividad aunque sin duda eso no le quito méritos a una colección que sin duda le habla a muchos tipos de mujer. Algo que me gusta mucho es que se da el tiempo de crear sombreros y tocados algo que indudablemente habla de sus raíces españolas pues acá en latinoamericano no es tan acostumbrado. Si bien la diseñadora como he mencionado es de origen español tiene un atelier ubicado en la ciudad de Panamá por lo que a mis ojos tiene todo los puntos para considerarla una diseñadora local y que honor contar con alguien de su talla y talento entre nosotros.

If there is a designer who knows what she stands for is Pilar Sainz, her designs are unique, elegante, timeless and beautifully femenine. You can always find that spanish DNA that gives them a very royal-esque feel. The collection titled "Marbella" was incredibly varied and the pieces range was really wide, sometimes this may have caused that the whole cohesiveness of the collection was a bit blurred but it definetely didn´t take out the merits of a line that spoke to a great number of women. Something I am really fond of is how she takes time to creat hats and headdresses which undoublty speaks of her spanish roots because here in latinamerica we are not that big on it. 

While as I mentioned the designer is from Spain she does have an atelier here in Panama so to my eyes she just fits the bill to be considered a local designer and what an honor to have someone of her experiencie and talent among us.

JORGE DUQUE VELEZ

Si han visto mi blog con anterioridad sabrán que hice un resumen de la temporada primavera 2016 de Colombiamoda y casualmente este diseñador presentó en dicho evento. La mayoría de sus diseños realzan la silueta femenina y tienen un toque sexy sin ser exagerado. El uso de los detalles es significativo especialmente en los trajes con parches. La colección tiene un motivo que hace referencia a los viajes o al amor por viajar pues estos detalles de aviones se pueden observar a lo largo de toda la colección.

If you´ve seen my blog before you perhaps are aware that I did a review on the spring 2016 season of Colombiamoda and casually this designer was presenting at said event. Most of his designs do beautiful things to the female silhouette and are sexy without going over the top on it. The use of interesting details is quite stunning specially in the dresses with patches. The collection has a recurring motif that makes reference to travels or the love for traveling which can be seen at different points throughout the entire line.

CARMELÁ LUGO

Siempre es un día hermoso para mi si tengo la oportunidad de ver denim en una colección y por eso doy gracias al universo que me dio la oportunidad de presenciar la propuesta de Carmelá. Sin duda una de las más actuales y urbanas, un elemento recurrente y muy en tendencia es el uso del "patchwork" el cual fue utilizado en las piezas de mezclilla brindando un look muy interesante y cool. Debo decir que las líneas con un toque mas deportivo/urbano generan un interés que me parece genial ya que hay algo en ellas que te habla del ahora, lo que se ve en la calle, lo que forma parte de nuestra vida...creo que eso es algo que muchos diseñadores deberían recordar pues en ocasiones parece que diseñan más para un cuadro especifico.

Is always a great day for me when I say jeans on the runway that´s why I am so grateful for designer Carmelá. This was hands down the most now and urban-esque of all the collections, the use of patchwork was also quite present in de denim pieces offering a very interesting and cool look. I must admit that the more sporty/urban collections really generate a unique interest that I find great and maybe that stems from the fact that it speaks of now, what´s on the street, those elements that make part of our life...this is something I believe local designers should remember for they seem to be totally hooked on a very specific box.

MARCISCANO

Una marca que hace su debut oficial y promete. La colección se titula metamorfosis y es algo que se puede palpar en sus diseños pues muchos parecieran estar en un proceso de cambio que si bien es notorio para con la inspiración no daña el estilo de la pieza...en ocasiones he visto colecciones con temas parecidos donde este "cambio" realmente no fluye en la pieza y termina viéndose como dos vestidos que se unieron a la fuerza. Si hay algo que me encanta es cuando la segunda impresión supera con creces a la primera pues la marca inicialmente hizo una mini presentación en las pasarelas que se llevaron a cabo en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo y aunque las piezas eran bonitas no sentía una real sensación de frescura en ellas...pero esta colección fue un borrón y cuenta nueva...ojala las chicas que manejan esta marca decidan seguir el camino que nos mostraron en el MBFWP pues creo que van una excelente dirección.

This brand makes its official debut and boy does it has promise. The collection is titled Metamorfosis and you can definetely get the take on the theme in their designs which look like they are in the process of changing which is done great...some collectiones I´ve seen with similar inspirations tend to look like you merged two dresses just because, there´s no flow in them but this is not that case. I do love it when second impressions completely wipe a first one...I state this because the brand had a mini presentation in the runways that took place at the MAC and while the garments where indeed pretty there was nothing really fresh or interesting about them...but this collection was something else and I hope the girls that manage this brand decide to take on the road they chose for fashion week because I think they are going to get somewhere amazing.

BURU by FABIOLA BRACHO

Esta era una de esas instancias donde mi cámara decidió ser genial y pude tomar buenas fotos. La joyería en pasarela no es fácil de fotografiar especialmente por que las modelos están en movimiento y ademas yo no estaba para nada cerca de la pasarela por lo que tenia que hacer mucho zoom. Confieso que nunca he sido la persona con mas afinidad con la joyería, no es que no me agrade solo que no siento tanto entusiasmo con ella como con la ropa...o los zapatos. Pero debo aceptar que la propuesta de Fabiola Bracho es hermosa y sin duda es lo que se consideraría "statement jewelry". Entre el oro y la plata definitivamente me inclino más hacia el lado gris del espectro pero esta combinación de oro y piedras preciosas se lleva toda mía atención. El titulo de la colección "Strong Metal" si me sacó un poco de onda pues creo que esperaba piezas más edgy o con un toque inclinado hacia lo industrial, tonos plata y formas quizás algo más pesadas pero la colección resultó ser bastante femenina y colorida.

One of those instances where my camera decided she was going to take great shots. Jewelry is not really easy to photograph because models are in constant motion and I wasn´t close to the runway so my zoom was working extra hours there. I confess not to be the biggest person on jewelry...not for disliking it or anything just that my enthusiasm really peakes on clothes and shoes. But i got to accept the proposal by Fabiola Bracho was gorgeous and what one could consider statement jewelry in every sense of the word. 

Between gold and silver I am more inclined to go for the grayer shades but this combo in gold and precious stones is just taking all my attention. Now what did through me a little off was the title "Strong Metal" because in my mind I guess this suggested something a bit edgier maybe leaning on to an industrial feel, more silvery hues...perhaps stronger and heavier shapes and concepts but as it turn out the collection was really femenine and colorful.
