MBFWP15: Urban Abstract by John Bejarano.

¡Hola mis queridos lectores! Quizás alguno de ustedes sabrá que trabajo desde hace cuatro años con el diseñador colombiano, radicado en Panamá, John Bejarano. Este sin duda ha sido un camino increíble y muy inspirador para mi ya que inicie como un consultor para su recién abierta línea pret-a-porter y hoy día soy su asistente creativo encargándome de asistir como una segunda mente creativa en la marca y también el manejo de otras labores de índole administrativa. Debo decir que en un principio fue difícil para mi ya que no es lo mismo ser un admirador de la moda a trabajar con una persona que la fabrica y ver el resultado de varios meses de planeamiento y trabajo desfilar en una pasarela, sobre todo si es la del Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Panamá. La marca ha tenido la oportunidad de presentar en otros países como República Dominicana, Ecuador y Belice, también tuvimos la oportunidad de introducir al mercado este año una línea Resort la cual tuvo muy buena aceptación...todas estas cosas realmente nos empujan a seguir dando lo mejor de nosotros.

Este año se presentó en MBFWP la colección "Urban Abstract" primavera/verano 2016 la cual se inspira en las obras abstractas del artista Tomory Dodge quien utiliza brochazos de diversos colores para crear imágenes dinámicas e interesantes que en ocasiones se mezclan con elementos geométricos, algo que también tiene mucha presencia en el concepto de la marca. El diseñador decidió crear un nuevo look urbano cuya esencia fuera más moderna y elegante con ligeros toques deportivos, una hermosa paleta de colores para el verano e introducir en las piezas elementos artísticos que le dieran una sensación elevada de "arte usable". Aunque la inspiración radica en las obras de Dodge se determinó realizar todos los estampados de forma original dándoles un efecto digitalizado a los brochazos de pintura, aunque una prenda en particular fue pintada a mano por el diseñador. Este año también se mostró un pequeño grupo de piezas masculinas como un guiño a los seguidores de la marca que hace tiempo nos piden una colección de caballero....y quien sabe quizás en un futuro no muy lejano pueda suceder. Hello my dear readers! Perhaps some of you know that I have been working for four years with the Colombian designer, based in Panama, John Bejarano. This has certainly been incredible and very inspiring to me since I started as a consultant to its newly opened ready-to-wear line and today I work as his creative assistant functioning as a second creative mind in the brand and also the handling other tasks of an administrative nature. I must say that at first it was hard for me because it is not the same being a fan of fashion to working with a person who makes it and see the results of several months of planning and work paraded on a catwalk, especially if it is the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Panama. The brand has had the opportunity to present in other countries like Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Belize, we also had the opportunity to introduce to the market this year our Resort line which was well received ... all these things really push us to continue giving the best of us.

This year it was presented in MBFWP the "Urban Abstract" Spring / Summer 2016 collection which is inspired by the abstract works of the artist Tomory Dodge who uses brushstrokes of different colors to create dynamic and interesting images that sometimes are mixed with geometric elements, something that also has a strong presence in the concept of the brand. The designer decided to create a new urban look whose essence was more modern and elegant with light sporty touches, a beautiful palette for the summer and introduce artistic elements on several pieces to give the collection a heightened sense of "wearable art". Although the inspiration lies in the works of Dodge it was determined to make all prints original giving the paint strokes a digitalized effect, although a particular garment was hand painted by the designer. This year a small group of male clothes were also presented being a nod to fans of the brand that for a while have asked for a menswear collection .... and who knows maybe in the not too distant future it may happen.
