¡Hola a todos! Hoy finalmente llegamos a mis últimas presentaciones favoritas del Fashion Week Panamá Digital 2020 y por supuesto con las propuestas más creativas de la edición, trabajos de diseñadores que se han caracterizado por el amor que sienten al crear experiencias visuales a través de la indumentaria, siempre bajo un trasfondo profundo y conceptual.
Esta edición del FWP sin duda fue singular y aunque sabíamos que este año habrían muchos cambios -aún cuando no hubiere pandemia- el adaptarse al formato de ´fashion films' fue un proceso iluminador. Percatarse de las posibilidades que esto puede ofrecer a los diseñadores de construir un mundo individual -lo que no siempre pueden hacer en pasarela- y explotar los aspectos más visuales de su marca fue una experiencia gratificante además del claro talento de nuestros productores audiovisuales.
No mentiré y diré que no extrañe las pasarelas pues la verdad son irremplazables, pero si me emociona el prospecto de una semana de la moda panameña donde se integren presentaciones físicas y virtuales, esto podría abrir excelentes oportunidades de visibilidad para marcas jóvenes que no siempre tienen los medios para enfrentar los costos de una presentación en pasarela y también para marcas de accesorios, las cuales siempre he pensado se desenvuelven mejor en formatos que permitan mostrar sus productos con mayor enfoque en el detalle.
Espero mis elecciones a lo largo de estas cuatro entradas sobre el FWP 2020 fueran de su agrado y esperemos que podamos volver a las pasarelas el próximo año.
Hello everyone! Today we finally get to my last favorite presentations of Fashion Week Panama Digital 2020 and of course with the most creative proposals of the edition, works of designers who have been characterized by the love they feel when creating visual experiences through clothing, always under a deep and conceptual background.
This edition of the FWP was undoubtedly unique and although we knew that this year there would be many changes -even initially when there was no pandemic in sight- adapting to the ´fashion films' format was an enlightening process. Realizing the possibilities this can offer designers to build an individual world - which they cannot always do on the catwalk - and exploiting the most visual aspects of their brand was a rewarding experience in addition to the clear talent of our audiovisual producers.
I will not lie and say that I did't miss the catwalks because the truth is they are irreplaceable, but I am excited by the prospect of a Panamanian fashion week where physical and virtual presentations are integrated, this could open excellent visibility opportunities for young brands that do not always have the means to face the costs of a runway presentation and also for accessory brands, which I have always thought perform better in formats that allow showing their products with greater focus on detail.
I hope my choices throughout these four FWP 2020 entries were to your liking and hopefully we can get back on the runways next year.

El joven diseñador que debutó el año pasado en el Macrofest se suma a las filas del FWP con una colección cuya inspiración recoge la estética mobiliaria de los años 70 y 80. Las prendas guardan en su mayoría proporciones exageradas, algunas en los hombros y otras con mucho volumen en las faldas. Asimismo, el diseñador confeccionó varias de sus piezas para que tuvieran una textura acolchada, en otros casos experimentó con el textil para crear siluetas experimentales y ciertas piezas definió el cuerpo utilizando corsés.
En cuanto a textiles el diseñador se decantó por el tafetán stretch al cual pasó por un proceso de tintura artesanal logrando hermosos colores y en algunas prendas un bello efecto degradé que se hizo muy efectista gracias al brillo natural del textil.
Christian Olarte es sin duda uno de los talentos nuevos más prometedores, parte de ese nuevo circulo de creadores que no teme experimentar con el diseño y llevarlo fuera de las limitaciones de la "moda latina", algo que es muy necesario para la moda panameña.
The young designer who debuted last year at the Macrofest joins the ranks of the FWP with a collection inspired by the furniture aesthetics of the 70s and 80s. The garments have mostly exaggerated proportions, some on the shoulders and others with a lot of volume in the skirts. Likewise, the designer made several of his pieces to have a padded or puffed texture, in other cases he experimented with textiles to create experimental silhouettes and certain pieces defined the body using corsets.
As for textiles, the designer opted for stretch taffeta, which went through a process of handmade dyeing, achieving beautiful colors and in some garments a beautiful gradient effect that was made very effective thanks to the natural shine of the textile.
Christian Olarte is undoubtedly one of the most promising new talents, part of that new circle of creators who is not afraid to experiment with design and take it outside the limitations of "Latin fashion", something that is very necessary for Panamanian fashion.
El reconocido diseñador - y uno de los creadores locales más inventivos- se inspiró en las guerras que el ser humano ha librado y esta librando en la actualidad para crear versiones novedosas de prendas que utilizan siluetas de uniformes tanto de guerra como de salubridad, todas en tonos crudos, para enviar un mensaje de paz y resiliencia. La abundancia del blanco en esta colección creó un aura de serenidad en la presentación la cual contó en las piezas con materiales como el lino, algodón y tejidos de seda que irradiaban luz.
El diseñador muy celebrado por su uso de técnicas artesanales abordó esta colección con una fuerza magistral en esta área creando detalles, texturas e incluyendo hermosos trabajos como el pliegue capitoné, el apliqué inverso, macramé de sutage, encaje de bolillo, encaje Tenerife, calados y encaje ñandutí. Adicionalmente hizo piezas deconstruidas y transformables. A mi concepto esta colección 'PeacE' y la propuesta del 2019 'Identidad PTY 507' han sido dos de sus propuestas más fuertes y de mis favoritas, ya veremos con que nos sorprenderá el próximo año.
The renowned designer - and one of the most inventive local creators - was inspired by the wars that humans have fought and are still waging today to create novel versions of garments that use silhouettes of both war and health uniforms, all in raw tones, to send a message of peace and resilience. The abundance of white in this collection created an aura of serenity in the presentation which included materials such as linen, cotton and silk fabrics that radiated light in the pieces.
The designer, highly celebrated for his use of artisan techniques, approached this collection with masterful force in this area creating details, textures and including beautiful works such as the capitoné pleat, the reverse appliqué, sutage macramé, bobbin lace, Tenerife lace, openwork and ñandutí lace. Additionally he made deconstructed and transformable pieces. In my opinion, this collection 'PeacE' and the 2019 proposal 'Identidad PTY 507' have been two of his strongest outings and are amongst my favorites, let's see how he will surprise us next year.
Otra joven marca que en poco tiempo ha creado emoción en los amantes de la moda por su diseño conceptual y de alto drama en sus siluetas, en donde hasta la fecha hemos podido ver influencias de Galliano para Dior, Maison Margiela y Alexander McQueen, referentes que en las manos creativas de estos dos diseñadores fungen como parte de las magnificas inspiraciones que han ayudado a crear el universo Berba, el cual siempre guarda un toque de oscuridad y elegancia en partes iguales.
Para el FWP presentaron una colección exclusivamente en tono negro con uso de volumen en mangas y siluetas, con detalles bordados de cuerdas, mariposas y figuras metálicas en diversos materiales como el cuero o cuerina, textil con estampado 'pinstripe', lentejuelas, tul, tejidos de seda, brocados, entre otros. Para esta presentación los diseñadores colaboraron con la marca de orfebrería JAG Joyeros que guarda un legado de 50 años en la fabricación de joyas artesanales y se mantiene vivo gracias al talento del artesano guna Alberto Gómez.
Los diseñadores tuvieron quizás la presentación más majestuosa de todo el FWP utilizando como escenario principal el foyer del renovado Teatro Nacional de Panamá que enmarcó el dramatismo de sus diseños con un halo de grandeza y elegancia atemporal. Una excelente colección que anota un tercer éxito en el camino de estos talentosos creativos.
Another young brand that in a short time has created excitement in fashion lovers for its conceptual design and high drama in its silhouettes, where to date we have seen influences from Galliano for Dior, Maison Margiela and Alexander McQueen, references that in the creative hands of these two designers they serve as part of the magnificent inspirations that have helped create the Berba universe, which always keeps a touch of darkness and elegance in equal parts.
For the FWP they presented a collection exclusively in black with the use of volume in sleeves and silhouettes, with embroidered details of ropes, butterflies and metallic figures in various materials such as faux leather, textile with a pinstripe print, sequins, tulle, silk fabrics, brocades, among others. For this presentation, the designers collaborated with the jewelery brand JAG Joyeros, which keeps a legacy of 50 years in the manufacture of artisan jewelry and is kept alive thanks to the talent of the guna artisan Alberto Gómez.
The designers had perhaps the most majestic presentation of the entire FWP using as the main stage the foyer of the renovated National Theater of Panama that framed the dramatic nature of their designs with an aura of grandeur and timeless elegance. An excellent collection that scores a third success in the path of these talented creatives.

ReplyDeleteCreo que coincido completamente contigo en este post!!!! El riesgo que tomaron en estas colecciones fue bastante épico para mi, que aunque estaban cargadas de dramatismo, seguían siendo piezas muy usables para una mujer en el día a día o para eventos especiales. Sin duda queremos seguir viendo mucho más de Berba para el 2021
