Después de unas excelentes vacaciones iniciamos el ciclo 2017 de este blog con una entrada inspirada en el reciente Miss Universo. Antes de iniciar con el material que nos compete me gustaría extender mis felicitaciones a nuestra representante Keity Drennan por lograr entrar en el Top 13 y dar una excelente participación dejando al país muy en alto; desde hace mucho tiempo no veía en las personas un interés tan latente en una participante y creo que es fruto del esfuerzo que la nueva organización del Señorita Panamá ha puesto en su año debut.
After some amazing down time we are starting the blog´s 2017 cycle with an entry inspired by the recent Miss Universe. Before we begin with the meat of the theme I´d like to extend my congratulations to our candidate Keity Drennan for entering the Top 13 and giving one hell of an amazing run through the pegeant making sure that our country left a mark, its been a while since I´ve seen the people that interested in a contestant and I believe it is the product of the effort that the new Señorita Panamá organization has poured in their debut year.
Y precisamente la nueva organización, y sus Misses, son mi tema para esta entrada. Verán, no suelo escribir sobre certámenes de belleza pero revisando las distintas fotos mientras seguía el progreso de Keity no pude evitar darme cuenta la increíble cantidad de diseño local que se hizo presente en el vestuario de todas las Misses del Señorita Panamá en sus distintos concursos. Y lo que me encantó es que cada una de ella utilizó al menos un diseño visto en pasarela y en ese momento decidí que ese seria el tema de mi post exaltando la belleza, el talento panameño y el compromiso de la organización en llevar el arte de nuestro país a los diferentes rincones del mundo.
And its precisely about the new managment and its Misses that this entry is all about. You see, I rarely to never write anything about beauty pageants but scrolling through the pictures while I kept myself updated with Keity´s progress I counldn´t help but notice the amazing quantity of local designs that all of the Misses wore during their different contests. And what I loved the most was the fact that at least each one of them sported a look that came directly from the runway and it was at that moment that I knew what this post was going to be about taking notice in the beauty, creative talent and compromise the management and candidates have to share the art of our country to the world.
Rita Silvestre, Señorita Panamá Continentes Unidos 2016 en VERÓNICA ÁNGEL.
Me encantó esta elección de uno de los trajes más bonitos de la pasarela Kaleidoscopia que fue presentada en el Macrofest 2015. La diseñadora se caracteriza por su sensibilidad urbana y creatividad a la hora de jugar con el color y los elementos visuales creando siempre colecciones llenas de energía. En su paso por el certamen Rita también lució diseños de Jaime Luna y Annie Chajin.
I love this choice which was one of the most beautiful dresses in the Kaleidoscopia collection that was presented at the 2015 Macrofest. The desginers is known for he tropical urban sensibility and creativity with color and visual elements creating energetic collections. She also wore designs by Jaime Luna and Annie Chajin.
Virginia Hernandez, Señorita Panamá Tierra 2016 en HÉLÈNE BREEBAART.
Este hermoso diseño hizo su aparición en el Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Panamá 2014. Los diseños de Hélène son muy ricos en textura y aplicaciones del arte de la mola de un modo tradicional pero también muy creativo creando diferentes formas inspiradas en la naturaleza que ha sido la musa inagotable de esta creadora. Virginia también lució en su recorrido diseños de John Bejarano, Paola Cantagalli y Varela LaMar.
This beautiful dress made it debut at the 2014 MBFWP. This designer´s creations are very rich in texture and the application of the mola technique which is made in both a traditional and creative way forming images inspired by nature. Virginia also wore designs by John Bejarano, Paola Cantagalli and Varela LaMar.
Jhasmeiry Herrera, Señorita Panamá Reina Hispanoamericana 2016 en JOHN BEJARANO.
Jhasmeiry lució este diseño que juega con la estructura y el oversize en la pasarela primavera-verano 2017 del diseñador y no dudo ni un segundo en llevarlo entre sus atuendos para el certamen. John Bejarano se caracteriza por manejar dos lineas la Pret-a-porter cuyo diseño es más funcional pero indudablemente elegante y aquella denominada Atelier enfocada en trajes a medida y de gala, siendo esta última muy admirada no solo por las misses sino también por personalidades de la televisión panameña. Durante el certamen Jhasmeiry también vistió piezas de House of Lara y José Luis Gonzalez.
Jhasmeiry rocked this structured and oversize design that came straight up from the SS17 runway...in which she also modeled the dress and of course knew she had to include in her repertoire. This designer is known for his ready to wear and Atelier lines the latter which is very much loved by Misses and TV figure alike. Jhasmeiry also sported pieces from House of Lara and Leotards Panamá.
Alessandra Bueno, Señorita Panamá Mundo 2016 en ALESSANDRA GRAU.
Sin duda Alessandra será recordada como la candidata más fashion forward de la nueva generación. Con un legado familiar íntimamente ligado a la moda panameña era de esperarse que ésta chica tomará una aproximación diferente a lo que suele verse en las demás concursantes. Esta pieza de la diseñadora Alessandra Grau es una variante del traje que fue mostrado en el Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Panamá 2016, conservando la forma, diseño y material pero variando la falda por un short y el color del traje. Entre los muchos diseños que lució se pueden nombrar piezas de Londy, Marciscano y Anna Francesca Blasser.
Alessandra will be remembered as the most fashion forward candidate which is no surprise coming from a family that has a very deep connection with panamanian fashion. This piece from Alessandra Grau´s spring 2017 collection is almost exactly as its runway counterpart having some variations with the skirt, turned into a short, and the color. Londy, Sousa Pitti and Anna Francesca Blasser can be listed among the many designers she wore.
Keity Drennan, Señorita Panamá Universo 2016 en GRACIELA LASSO.
Me fue un poco difícil conseguir una foto completa de este traje así que no me quedó de otra que hacer un screenshot de instastory. En el caso de Keity prácticamente la mayoría de sus atuendos fueron hechos a medida, de boutiques o piezas individuales. Esta diseñadora es una de las promesas de los nuevos diseñadores locales teniendo a su favor tres excelentes colecciones y la apertura de su primer showroom. Entre las piezas que llevó Keity se pueden destacar los trajes realizados por Zack & JB, Elías Sarmiento, J. Santino ,y el traje de la preliminar (foto que abre el post) diseñado por John Bejarano.
It was a hard time trying to find a shot of Keity wearing this dress so finally I had to settle with an instastory capture. In her case most of the garments she wore were made to measure, from boutiques or individual pieces styled together. This designer is one of the promises of panamanian fashion having already established a record of three amazing collections and the opening of her very first showroom. Keity also slayed with pieces from Elías Sarmiento, J. Santino and the preliminay dress (the picture that opens the post) designed by John Bejarano.
Aunque estoy consciente que en otros años también se ha utilizado diseño nacional en el vestuario de nuestras candidatas creo que este ha sido donde más presencia se ha sentido y tenido el apoyo hacia nuestros creadores locales y es algo que me llena de mucha alegría ver como los trabajos y talentos de estas personas, muchas a las que conozco personalmente, ha sido valorado y validado a los ojos no solo de Panamá sino de todo el mundo. Espero que la nueva organización de Señorita Panamá siga manteniendo estos estándares ayudando a llevar el producto panameño al lugar que se merece.
Although I´m aware that local design has been used in other iterations of the pageant I belive this year has been the one that its presence has been felt the most and that make me really happy to see the work and talent of the people, some of whom I have the pleasure to know, has been validated and valued to the eyes of not only panamanians but the rest of the world. I hope the new management of Señorita Panamá keeps this standard and help position the panamanian craft where it belongs.
