Colombiamoda 2017.

La reciente versión de Colombiamoda dejó a su paso una estela de increíbles colecciones que son muestra viva de los cambios y evoluciones del diseño latinoamericano en el cual Colombia se ha asegurado un puesto entre los más destacados.

Esta época de renacimiento del diseño colombiano ha logrado que muchos de los creadores consigan hacer el tan anhelado cruce hacia la región norteamericana e incluso internacional convirtiéndose en parte habitual de sitios web de lujo como Moda Operandi o Cooperativa Shop y algunos incluso han tenido la oportunidad de presentar sus colecciones en París.

En esta entrada me gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas de mis colecciones favoritas de la edición 2017 de Colombiamoda y es que la primavera-verano 2018 estará sin duda cargada de mucho estilo.

The recent version of Colombiamoda left behind a trail of incredible collections that are a living example of the changes and evolutions of Latin American design in which Colombia has secured a position among the most outstanding.

This time of rebirth of Colombian design has made many of the creators succeed in making the longed-for crossing to the North American and even international region becoming a regular part of luxury websites like Moda Operandi or Cooperativa Shop and some have even had the opportunity to present their collections in Paris.

In this post I would like to share with you some of my favorite collections from the 2017 edition of Colombiamoda because I truly belive that this spring-summer 2018 will certainly be loaded with style.

ATELIER CRUMP

He bautizado a esta marca La Máxima Floral Latinoamericana y es que Atelier Crump posee probablemente los estampados florales más deseados, no es para menos con solo ver su catalogo o cualquiera de sus trajes sastre que ya son iconos uno se percata de la experticia que han logrado con este motivo. Agradezco también los momentos de respiro en la colección con piezas en tonos monocromáticos y brillantes.

I have baptized this brand the Latin American Floral Maximum and is that Atelier Crump probably has the most desired floral prints, and you can tell just by looking at their catalog or any of their tailor suits that are already icons one is aware of the expertise they have achieved with this motif. I also appreciate the moments of respite in the collection with pieces in monochromatic shades and bright textures.

PAJÓN & CARTAGENA

Las notas de glamour no se hicieron esperar en una marca que ha convertido la palabra en su pilar de diseño. Con piezas que iban desde cortes simples y sexys hasta increíblemente elaborados dignos de cualquier alfombra roja Andrés Pajón y Santo Cartagena se anotaron otro éxito. Bienvenida también fue la inclusión de la ropa masculina la cual en su debút sin duda mostró potencial, a mi parecer aún necesita un poco de refinamiento para que esté al nivel de su contra-parte.

The glamour notes were on point in a brand that has turned the word into its design pillar. With pieces ranging from simple cuts and sexy to incredibly elaborate worthy of any red carpet Andrés Pajón and Santo Cartagena scored another success. Welcome was also the inclusion of men's clothing which in its debut certainly showed potential, in my opinion it still needs a little refinement to be at the level of its counterpart.

EMERGENTE - GINA MURILLO

Una colección que captó mi atención por su buen uso de estampados y siluetas que lograban el balance entre chic y funcional. Creo que filtró con éxito ese look de mujer latina moderna que tanto me gusta ver. Una marca para no perder de vista.

A collection that captured my attention for its good use of prints and silhouettes that achieved the balance between chic and functional. I think that it filtered with success that look of modern Latin woman that I so much like to see. A brand to keep track of.

PEPA POMBO

Colorida, latina e histórica tres palabras que definen el legado de la diseñadora Pepa Pombo y su marca que bajo el cargo de su hija Mónica Holguín ha logrado posicionarse como una de las mejores de Colombia. Con su maestría en el tejido de punto y una presentación fantástica (el set de su pasarela ha sido uno de mis favoritos) esta marca demuestra el por que merecía ser el acto de apertura de Colombiamoda 2017. Como un comentario extra si están interesados en adquirirla la pueden encontrar en Panamá en la boutique Designer´s Closet.

Colorful, latina and historical three words that define the legacy of the designer Pepa Pombo and her brand that under the charge of her daughter Monica Holguín has managed to position itself as one of the best in Colombia. With their mastery in knitting and a fantastic presentation (the set of this catwalk has been one of my favorites) this brand demonstrates why it deserved to be the opening act of Colombiamoda 2017. MARÍA ELENA VILLAMIL

Estructurada y suave, etérea y vanguardista, el diseño de María Elena Villamil siempre es un encuentro de dos mundos que logran complementarse a la perfección creando un espacio propio donde imperan aires modernos con rasgos femeninos sustentados en siluetas japonesas con trazos latinos. Una marca que conocí este año y me ha encantado, no puedo esperar a ver lo próximo que saldrá de la innovadora mente de esta diseñadora.

Structured and soft, ethereal and avant-garde, the design of Maria Elena Villamil is always a meeting of two worlds that manage to complement each other perfectly creating a space where modernity infused with feminine features is supported by Japanese silhouettes with Latin strokes. A brand I came across this year and I loved it, I can not wait to see what comes next from the innovative mind of this designer.

Aunque estas fueron mis colecciones favoritas hubieron una gran cantidad de propuestas que consideré muy buenas como las de Christian Colorado, Papel de Punto, Jorge Duque y Juan Pablo Socarras. 

Colombia se ha convertido en el modelo a seguir y estoy seguro que en años venideros otros países latinoamericanos comenzarán a elevar su calidad de diseño pues es precisamente esta competencia y deseo de superación lo que eventualmente lleva a la evolución. Países como México, Costa Rica, Chile y Panamá están prestando atención y yo solo puedo sentirme felíz de estar aquí en este momento para presenciarlo.

Although these were my favorite collections there were a lot of proposals that I considered very good like those of Christian Colorado, Papel de Punto, Jorge Duque and Juan Pablo Socarras.

Colombia has become the model to follow and I am sure that in future years other Latin American countries will start to raise their quality of design because it is precisely this competition and desire for improvement that eventually leads to evolution. Countries like Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile and Panama are paying attention and I can only feel happy to be here at the moment to witness it.
