El verano esta en todo su apogeo y eso oficialmente marca el festival Marco, evento que se viene realizando desde hace ya varios años el cual es en toda su esencia una gran celebración artística que se toma diversos rincones del Casco Antiguo de Panamá donde se exponen desde muestras de arte hasta presentaciones musicales.
Entre todas las muestras que se realizan también están las pasarelas que usualmente se toman dos días del evento. Una de ellas es el Macro Couture plataforma donde diseñadores reconocidos del medio de moda panameño presentan sus más recientes colecciones. El formato para estas presentaciones, desde el año pasado, tiene un concepto al aire libre utilizando sitios emblemáticos del casco como un marco para que los creadores puedan mostrar a la audiencia sus diseños en un entorno natural y más relajado.
En esta ocasión se usó como escenario el Hotel Central desde el cual las modelos salían para recorrer la Plaza Catedral y de regreso a las instalaciones donde se colocaban en unos podios a modo de presentación para deleitar a los presentes dentro del hotel.
Summer is in full swing and that officially marks the Marco festival, an event that has been going on for several years now which is in all its essence a great artistic celebration that takes various corners of the Old Quarter of Panama where are art samples up to musical presentations are exhibited.
Among all the presentations that are made runway shows are included and they usually take two days of the event. One of them is the Macro Couture platform where recognized designers of the Panamanian fashion medium present their most recent collections. The format for these presentations, starting from last year, has an outdoor concept using emblematic sites of the quarter as a framework for creators to show the audience their designs in a natural and more relaxed environment.
On this occasion, the Central Hotel was used as a stage from which the models left to tour the Cathedral Plaza and back to the facilities where they were placed on podiums as a presentation to delight those present inside the hotel.
Una de las diseñadores que presentó fue la española Pilar Sáinz quien estableció hace algunos años su atelier en Panamá y ha presentado regularmente colecciones en el Fashion Week Panamá, así como en otras plataformas. Para esta edición del Macrofest nos deleitó con su colección titulada Macro-Bahamas, una propuesta llena de espíritu caribeño mezclado con la estética elegante y atemporal que siempre han caracterizado sus diseños.
One of the designers that presented was the spanish born Pilar Sáinz who established her atelier in Panama a few years ago and has regularly presented collections at Fashion Week Panama, as well as on other platforms. For this edition of the Macrofest she delighted us with a collection titled Macro-Bahamas, a proposal full of Caribbean spirit mixed with the elegant and timeless aesthetics that have always characterized her designs.
La paleta se compuso de tonos crudos con destellos de dorado y plateado los cuales le daban un aspecto veraniego; las telas, principalmente el micado, servían un doble propósito ya que por un lado este tipo de seda aparte de tener cuerpo brindando una bonita estructura y el característico brillo de la misma también es bastante fresca lo que hacia cada traje aún más especial pues fueron pensados para un clima tropical.
En cuanto a detalles se pueden destacar el uso de flecos, plumas, vuelos, pedrería, encaje y bordados mientras que un elegante turbante fue el elemento constante en cada una de las salidas reforzando así la vibra caribeña que inspiró esta hermosa colección.
The palette was composed of raw tones with flashes of gold and silver which gave it a summery appearance; the fabrics, mainly the mikado, served a double purpose because on the one hand this type of silk apart from having a nice structure and the characteristic shine of the material is also quite fresh which made each garment even more special because they were thought for a tropical climate.
In terms of details I can highlight the use of fringes, feathers, ruffles, beading, lace and embroidery while an elegant turban was the constant element in each of the looks, thus reinforcing the Caribbean vibe that inspired this beautiful collection.
La iniciativa del Macrofest siempre me ha parecido excelente como un medio para realzar las artes en Panamá y especialmente las pasarelas pues siempre he creído que los diseñadores necesitan tener la opción de elegir presentar en diferentes plataformas y algunas como las del festival Macro no solo brindan esa posibilidad sino que por sus características da la oportunidad a estos creadores de exponer sus diseños a un grupo más amplio de personas y esa capacidad de crear un mayor conocimiento sobre el diseño nacional y local es simplemente invaluable.
The Macrofest initiative has always seemed excellent as a means to enhance the arts in Panama and especially the runways because I have always believed that designers need to have the option to choose to present on different platforms and some like the Macro festival not only provide that possibility but because of its characteristics gives the opportunity to these creators to expose their designs to a wider group of people and that ability to create greater knowledge about national and local design is simply invaluable.
