The Archive - Epic Fashion Shows.

¡Hola a tod@s! Esta semana estoy de regreso con lo que pretendo sea un segmento nuevo para mi blog el que titulo 'The Archive' y es que en esta sección estaré creando contenido sobre material histórico, curioso o simplemente de aquellas cosas particulares en el mundo de la moda que han llamado mi atención y comprenden espacios de tiempo variados.

Para esta primera entrada -e inspirado por la reciente pasarela de Jacquemus- quise hacer una lista de mis pasarelas favoritas al aire libre. Si bien todos estamos más que acostumbrados a los sets y hermosos edificios de vez en cuando un diseñador decide sacar la colección fuera de las paredes y beneficiarse de la belleza de un entorno natural (o parcialmente natural) para presentar una experiencia visual que realza la narrativa de su trabajo y que sin duda deja a los espectadores maravillados.

Para esta selección tuve algunos criterios como: debía ser una pasarela al aire libre, que tuviera un carácter épico o fantasioso, y que la misma guardara una conexión estética perfecta con la colección presentada.

Hello everyone! This week I'm back with what I intend it to be a new segment for my blog that I titled 'The Archive' in this section I will be creating content on historical material, curiousities or just those particular things in the world of fashion that have caught my attention through the years.

For this first entry - and inspired by the recent Jacquemus runway- I wanted to make a list of my favorite epic outdoor catwalks. While we are all more than accustomed to sets and beautiful buildings from time to time a designer decides to take the collection off the walls and benefit from the beauty of a natural (or partially natural) environment to present a visual experience that enhances the narrative of his work and that undoubtedly leaves viewers in awe.

For this selection I had some criteria such as: it had to be an outdoor walkway, it had to be epic or fantasy-esque, and that it kept a perfect aesthetic connection with the presented collection.

Jacquemus - Spring/Summer 2020 - Provence, South of France.

Rodeado de un hermoso campo teñido de lavanda, en las afueras del pueblo de Valensole, la marca celebró sus diez años en una pasarela que hizo oda a las raíces del diseñador encapsulando en una presentación mixta los códigos de estilo que han hecho de su firma una de las más deseadas.

Surrounded by a beautiful lavender-colored field on the outskirts of the town of Valensole, the brand celebrated its tenth anniversary on a catwalk that was an ode to the roots of the designer encapsulating in a mixed presentation the style codes that have made his brand one of the most desired.

Saint Laurent - Spring/Summer 2019 - Trocadéro Plaza, Paris.

Una colección que perfectamente define el ADN actual de la icónica casa donde el poder femenino y sexy de la mujer estuvo en total despliegue con prendas cuyo recorrido estético abarcaban desde los sesentas hasta los años ochenta. Con la torre Eiffel marcando la nota imponente en el fondo y un set increíble esta presentación fue la muestra perfecta entre espacios naturales, arquitectura antigua y diseño de escenario contemporáneo.

A collection that perfectly defines the current DNA of the iconic house where the feminine and sexy power of women was in total display with garments whose aesthetic journey spanned from the sixties to the eighties. With the Eiffel Tower marking the impressive note in the background and an incredible set, this presentation was the perfect display between natural spaces, ancient architecture and contemporary stage design.

Louis Vuitton - Resort 2017 - Niterói Museum, Brazil.

Como ya es costumbre con las colecciones resort varias marcas deciden presentar sus propuestas en destinos exóticos y Louis Vuitton sin duda es una de las más destacadas en este ámbito. Siendo fiel a su estética futurista la firma utiliza como base el alucinante museo de arte contemporáneo Niterói para mostrar una colección que mezcla el estilo de diseño conocido de Ghesquiere con la atención a la figura muy característica de latinoamerica sin perder los tintes parisinos. 

As its become usual with resort collections, several brands decide to present their proposals in exotic destinations and Louis Vuitton is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding in this area. Being faithful to its futuristic aesthetics, the firm uses the hallucinating Niterói contemporary art museum as a base to showcase a collection that mixes the well-known design style of Ghesquiere with a special attention to the femenine shape which is very characteristic of Latin American style without losing the Parisian tints.

Fendi - Spring/Summer 2008 Special - The Great Wall, China.

Si hay algo de lo que no se puede acusar al fallecido Karl Lagerfeld es de no saber montar un espectáculo con sus colecciones, en esta ocasión la mención se la lleva Fendi y su impresionante desfile en la Gran Muralla China. Para mi una de las mejores colecciones de la firma donde el color rojo tuvo protagonismo, por supuesto, en honor a la sede.

If there is something that the late Karl Lagerfeld can´t be accused of is not knowing how to mount a show with his collections, this time the mention is earned by Fendi and its impressive runway in the Great Wall of China. For me one of the best collections of the firm where the color red had prominence, of course, in honor of the hosting country.

Pierre Cardin - Spring/Summer 2008 - Gobi Desert, China.

El legendario diseñador no es ajeno a las pasarelas de alto calibre con una lista que incluye presentaciones en un helipuerto, sobre las aguas de Venecia y a lo largo de un sistema de montañas. Pero sin duda fue su pasarela en el desierto de Gobi una de las más recordadas de su carrera donde presentó una colección que trajo su pasión por el futurismo a un plano más usable y de hermosos colores que contrastaban con el mar de dunas alrededor creando un magnifico oasis de moda.

The legendary designer is no stranger to the high-caliber catwalks with a list that includes presentations on a heliport, over the waters of Venice and along a mountain system. But without a doubt it was his walkway in the desert of Gobi one of the most remembered of his career where he presented a collection that brought his passion for futurism to a more wearable plane with beautiful colors that contrasted with the sea of dunes around creating a magnificent fashionable oasis.
